Down the toilet it goes

Sorry, this post has nothing to do with fecal matter, urine or any potty training story.

A few weeks ago it was ocean week for Jonah at Gan, at the end of the week he was given two fish to take home, to care for and cherish for the rest of their lives.

The fish must have been doing well for themselves because in the week they were living in casa de la bathroom, they had upgraded their living conditions twice. They started in a small simple Studio apartment with no furniture or decorations. They quickly moved into a larger circular bowl, with a nice bed of rocks. They enjoyed that home for a day or so, when they decided to upgrade yet again. This time to a taller larger home, with filter, and a skylight in a nicer neighborhood - Jonah's room.

They seemed happy, got one meal a day handed down to them from heaven, similar to the man. And this morning tragedy struck. The orange fish dropped dead. The black fish was so distraught, he didn't know what to do so he started eating his buddy. That's when Nat saw him , and had me flush him to Hashem, as we told Jonah.

The black fish has been pretty depressed, realizing how close he came to eating fish, which he acknowledged is gross. So he is just staring at the walls of palace, wondering if he will ever find a fried again.

The balloon festival

Last year Nat dragged me kicking and screaming to the Howell Balloon festival, and it was even worse that I could have imagined. SO imagine my shock when she asked me to go again, to be fair she did give me an out- but I went. Continuing to be fair, last year we didn't see the balloons going off we just did the other stuff there and head to home for a BBQ.

This year we were determined to see the balloons going off. So we brought a picnic dinner and went on the long drive Howell Michigan. We got their a little before 3 and the balloon launch was scheduled between 6-8. SO we walked around, saw the shows they had throughout the day, and it didn't suck. There was a skydiving show that did suck and then the waiting began.

We sat on the grass for an hour and half or so waiting for the balloon launch to begin, it wasn't to bad we had some friends with us Jonah and his gf were running around having fun.

The MC who was so annoying, kept reminding everyone that there was a good chance there wouldn't even be a launch if the weather wasn't perfect But finally around 7:20 they announced that the balloons could go. I have to admit it was pretty cool.

After seeing a bunch of balloons go off, I was done with it, but there were around 30 balloons that had to fill up and fly away. I would have been happy with 15, I'll admit it, I had a fun time at teh festival

Seattle

So far our Seattle trip has been pretty busy some highlights

- Two of our three dinners have been a the vegetarian Chinese place, not sure who came up with this idea - but the food was pretty good. The first night we ate there I had some fake beef platter, my mind knew it was fake, but my stomach was expecting meat, and wasn't thrilled with me.

- We went to a really cool aquarium, saw soem sharks, otters, whales and an octopus, bigger than any I've seen at the Joe, that was really moving around. The girl who worked there told a great story about the octopus. They separated the man and lady 'pus, but one day the guy broke down the wall between of them and they made sweet sweet happiness. Two sad things for the guy, one they usually mate toward the end of their life, and second once the aquarium saw this they sent in a little diver to separate them, mid act. This poor guy achieve his goal of busting down the wall, then he got the girl, only to be yanked apart and realize he will probably die soon.

- Today we went to a baseball game at Safeco field, it's a nice park with a retractable roof that covered teh stadium in the second inning. There was also a nice play area which Jonah went and ran around in. I liked the play area, but glad they don't have it in Detroit, because when I go to Comerica I want to see the game, not a play area.

- After the game we walked to Krispy Kreme, it was a big one, and we got to watch them make the donuts. After they made them, they gave us 4 hot off the oven donuts. Greatest donuts ever.

- On the down side there is no kosher pizza and the weather has sucked pretty much throughout. Tomoorow should be better and I think we are going to the Zoo and havinga BBQ at Nat's friends house.

Thats all for now...

Thoughts

I drove to Pittsburgh yesterday stayed for a few hours and then headed home. Some thoughts I had while driving :

Why do I have to pay for the turnpike, what do I get for my money? I've had the same thought while in NY and paying for the rights to drive over a bridge.

Since I am paying to drive, I should be able to go as fast as I want. The customer is always right.

I was pulled over for speeding, I think its because of my Michigan plates and the ongoing basketball series, the officer gave me a warning. I didn't ask for it, didn't try and get out of the ticket, he just said I'm going to give you warning. Why did he pull me over? what a waste of everybody's time.

I heard an On-Star commercial for the millionth time about the person who locked their keys in the car and the On-Star person unlocks their car. I don't know why I never thought of this, but if you are locked out of your car how do you push the blue On-Star button to get a hold of them?
