Free Press Cook Book
Just so you don't think that I only rip on kids book, I am an equal opportunity ripper. We received a copy of a healthy for kids cook book from the The Detroit Free Press. There were two things that really bothered me
!. There is a recipe for Potato Latkes - the headline clearly says its Potato Latke - yet in the directions it refers to it as a Pancake, never once calling it a latke. Why don't they just call it a Potato Pancake.
2. There is a page that gives a peek into teh favorite vegetables and fruits of some players on teh Red Wings and Lions. What is interesting here is 6 of the 7 players they list haven't played for the local teams in a couple of years, and they aren't icons like Steve Yzerman or Barry Sanders. The list has Ron Rice (retired 2002) Aaron Ward (traded 2001) Luther Elliss ( '02) Tracy Scroggins ('01) and Ray Roberts (retired in '01). Due to my extensive research I'm going to assume that this book hasn't been updated since 2002.
Is it that difficult for the Free Press, which has easy access to current players, to print a new page. Any kid who looks at this to be inspired by the vegetables his favorite player eats will have no clue who any of these players are.

The moral of the story is to stop reading books. They are just chock full of misinformation, especially regarding the communication and social skills of animals.
