Shu, Gaza wasn't given back because Sharon thought that the Palestinians could lawfully and democratically handle their new found bounty of land. Sharon knew that this would happen. The Disengagement had nothing to do with the possibility of peace or Palestinian prosperity. It was NOT a land for peace deal. It was a military move. One that was inevitable and necessary. Thanks Oslo for that.
